Neuroscience Post-Bacc Position Available - Araneda Lab

Key points:

---minimum of two years commitment and preferably a recent graduate or senior graduating this spring

---experience preferred, but highly motivated applicants will be considered.

Here is the job description:

Our neuroscience lab is seeking highly motivated individuals for a research technician/assistant position to support our studies on regulation of brain circuits by neuromodulatory signals. Our research uses several approaches, including patch-clamp recordings, neural circuit tracing and stimulation by genetically encoded proteins using the CRE recombinase system, and animal behavior. Potential candidates will perform a wide range of animal-based and tissue culture techniques, among general lab duties, while having the opportunity to serve as co-authors on publications that include their work.

The ideal candidate will be encouraged to undertake an "individual project" that could support applications  to PhD or MD programs. Previous research experience is highly desirable, in particular with immunohistochemistry and confocal imaging or any of the techniques currently in use in the lab. Importantly, successful applicants are expected to make, at minimum, a two-year commitment. If interested, please contact Dr. Araneda (raraneda@umd.edu)
