The University of Maryland has received funds for the Student COVID Relief Grant to provide financial assistance to students who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, and the application is now open!
Per the UMD Student Covid Relief Grant website, the grant funds can be used for anything relating to a students cost of attending the University or for emergency costs because of the pandemic, including:
- assistance with food purchases,
- needs related to housing/rent/utilities,
- assistance with health care (including mental health care) or child care expenses,
- the payment of tuition or purchase of course materials, and/or
- technology-related needs.
Students must meet the criteria listed below to be eligible for the grant:
- A student who is a U.S. citizen or who meets the definition of an eligible non-citizen.
- A student must use the funds to cover unexpected expenses related to the COVID-19 pandemic that have impacted their educational experience, including the allowable expenses listed above.
- An undergraduate or graduate student who is currently enrolled at UMD for the Spring 2021 semester.
