RA at Walter Reid -- Bachelor's Degree Needed

Overview

The Research Assistant provides assistance to the Principal Investigator and Study Team coordinating research activities that may include recruiting research participants, data collection and management and other research activities as assigned.  The RA will assist with report generation and project close-out support.

Our ideal candidate will support a pre-clinical study using non-invasive PFT, running wheel tests (for exercisability), and histopathological studies on post-mortem lung tissue and blood-based markers at various sub-threshold blast overpressure (BOP) exposures at different time-points (4hours – 6months). Biomechanical studies will be performed to understand the BOP exposure relationship with intrathoracic pressure to understand effectiveness of soft-armor. Controls will go through identical procedures, but no exposure to blast in pre-clinical studies. Identical tests will be performed for blood-based marker assays for clinical and pre-clinical samples.

Location: This position is located at Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) in Silver Spring, MD.
