The Neuroscience Undergraduate Program joins the nation today in beginning a month-long celebration of the rich cultures and histories of the Latinx and Hispanic communities.
National Latinx/Hispanic Heritage Month expands over a period of 30-days, from September 15th to October 15th. September 15th is a significant day as it commemorates the anniversary of independence for many Latin American countries including Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. Other Latin American countries’ independence days follow close behind; Mexico’s is September 16th, while Chile’s is September 18th.
We hope that all students, faculty and staff take time to learn, celebrate, and honor the histories and contributions of Latinx and Hispanic communities, not only throughout this month, but year-round.
