Using Social Media to Track Global Trends in the Covid-19 Pandemic -- Panel

Join us on Thursday, November 11 for a panel highlighting social data science in practice during the COVID-19 pandemic, followed by a Q&A about the new Social Data Science Major.

Researchers associated with the Delphi Group at Carnegie Mellon University and University of Maryland Social Data Science Center COVID-19 Trends and Impact Surveys, in partnership with

Facebook, will lead a discussion exploring how data scientists are using social media to track global trends in the COVID-19 pandemic.

Following the presentation, co-directors of the new UMD Social Data Science major will explore how interested undergraduates can gain the skills to create and interpret information products (like the COVID-19 Trends and Impact Surveys) that represent human behavior.
