Laboratory Research Assistant (Ksendzovsky Lab) The University of Maryland Department of Neurosurgery is seeking a Laboratory Research Assistant in the Ksendzovsky Laboratory.

PRIMARY DUTIES:
• Maintaining IRB protocols for the study
• Identifying, screening, and enrolling study participants
• Working with staff at the University of Maryland Medical Center to run study sessions that involve direct recordings of intracranial EEG data and computer-based behavior testing
• Working with staff and researchers at the University of Maryland, College Park and at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke of the National Institutes of Health to coordinate related research projects.
• Data management and processing
• Assist with literature research, editing and preparing manuscripts, scientific illustrations and computer graphics for publication.
• Perform administrative duties such as: training and guiding students and/or other laboratory technicians; assisting in developing policies, procedures and/or methods for laboratory experimentation; and ordering supplies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a field related to neuroscience, biomedical engineering, computer science, or behavioral science (e.g., psychology).
Other: The ideal candidate will have some prior research experience (in any related field), some familiarity with coding (e.g., Matlab/Python), interests in research on the neural bases of human behavior and cognition or their dysfunction in neurological conditions. Strong candidates will also have a demonstrated ability to work independently and manage/support a team.
May require training related to occupational safety and health, environmental compliance, shipping of hazardous materials and/or ionizing radiation.
May consider a combination of directly related experience and education.
