The Words of Engagement Intergroup Dialogue Program (WEIDP) is a for-credit social justice education initiative that brings together students of diverse backgrounds for facilitated conversations that supports them in exploring key questions about who we are, what we know about each other, and how structural inequalities impact our lives and relationships. WEIDP prepares students to navigate an increasingly diverse society through relationship building across differences and taking steps, both individually and collectively, that promote equity and justice.

Spring WEIDP courses include:

Dialogue about Race, Gender or Sexuality (WEID139BN)
When: Spring 2024, Tuesdays, Jan. 29 through March 12, 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM
Credits: 1 credit

Dialogue about Race, Gender or Citizenship (WEID139T)
When: Spring 2024, Tuesdays, March 25 through May 9, 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM
Credits: 1 credit

Flyer for dialogue facilitation practicum that says identity, inclusion justice. Want to be a social justice changemaker? Register for WEID300The facilitator development and practicum course (WEID300) is designed to introduce students to the skills and social justice frameworks needed to effectively facilitate group interactions across and within identity differences. Foundational facilitation skills that will be covered include active listening, asking questions, differentiating between dialogue and debate, developing community expectations, bridging differences that arise in dialogue, negotiation, and more. Students will apply the skills learned by facilitating a multi-session dialogue course with either the Common Ground or the Words of Engagement Intergroup Dialogue Program (WEIDP). This course may be eligible for internship credit for various programs and majors, please discuss with your academic advisors. Completion of this course can lead to pad facilitation opportunities on campus!

When: Spring 2024, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 2 PM to 4 PM
Credits: 3 credits
