Course Description
Do you want to take a course that explores Black love, Black joy, Black women's relationships and the Black family?
Are you interested in how Black women discuss love, friendships, and betrayal in their music? What do we learn when we examine how Black women represent the Black family in films and novels such as Lemonade and Sula? Black women are often hidden figures within American culture. However, we know that Black women’s history is American history. How are Black women’s bodies policed around respectability politics in rap music? What do we learn when we examine how Black women's artistic work is discussed on social media platforms?
