MPower sponsors paid summer research opportunities for students working with faculty mentors at the opposite campus and with the Maryland Department of Health (MDH).
- Applications open in December 2025 with a closing date for applications in late February 2026.
- Project descriptions are posted on the UM Scholars page on MPower’s website so students can review them even before the application period opens.
- Students can navigate to opportunities organized by their university. Each project description provides information on the ideal candidate including background, interests, and college/school, however, these are just guidelines. Projects of interest to students from most schools/colleges at UMB and UMCP are represented.
- This year, there are nine projects with the Maryland Department of Health. Seven of the nine projects are LIVE and ready for review on the website; the final two will be posted soon.
- Please note that applications for MDH projects will be reviewed on a rolling basis starting in late January. For better consideration, students interested in these projects may want to submit earlier than the final deadline in late February.
