Senior neuroscience major Nicholas Scrocca also made history as the first UMD undergraduate to serve as a course assistant, gaining electrophysiology experience that he now applies in Araneda’s laboratory.
Their involvement continues UMD’s longstanding connection with the Marine Biological Laboratory, which includes contributions from neuroscience professors Catherine Carr, Melissa Caras, and William Jeffery. Together, these faculty and student experiences demonstrate the lasting impact of hands-on research, mentorship, and scientific collaboration.
