The Karabelle Pizzigati Initiative Fellowship

The Karabelle Pizzigati Initiative Fellowship

Highlights

The Karabelle Pizzigati Initiative in Advocacy for Children, Youth and Families builds a pipeline of informed, effective advocates to ensure all children are healthy, safe, learning and joyful.

The School of Public Policy and the School of Public Health partner annually to name students as Karabelle Pizzigati fellows. These students have a commitment to a career in children's advocacy. In addition to required coursework, fellows will participate in paid internships. Fellows will work closely with the program director to identify and prepare for an internship opportunity in the children's advocacy field.

This year’s cohort will expand to 10 fellows, giving more University of Maryland students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience advocating for policies that improve the lives of children and families. Deadline to apply is Nov 13, 2026.

To celebrate a decade of the Karabelle Pizzigati Initiative in Advocacy for Children, Youth and Families, this year’s cohort is expanding to 10 fellows. The fellowship provides University of Maryland students with hands-on experience, executive coaching, and 1-on-1 mentorship to build a pipeline of effective advocates ensuring all children are healthy, safe, learning and joyful.

We encourage students across ALL UNDERGRADUATE MAJORS to apply because impactful advocacy relies on diverse perspectives from policy and public health to STEM, business and the liberal arts.
