Position Summary: The College Admissions Futures (CAF) Co-Lab (https://www.cafcolab.org/) is a multi-institutional partnership of higher education faculty, researchers, and scholar practitioners focused on exploring the impact of COVID-19 on college admissions. The CAF Co-Lab is developing a new college search tool, called Winnow, intended to be used by high school students and their families to make informed decisions about attending college. Winnow will provide a library of resources that specifically support first-generation students, students from low socioeconomic statuses, and racially minoritized students.
Hiring Range: This position offers a pay rate of $30 per hour for up to 25 hours per week. This position requires 20 hours at minimum per week.
Responsibilities: The graduate assistant will report to the co-principal investigator, Dr. OiYan Poon. This is a remote position.
Duties will be inclusive, but not limited to:
• Serve as editorial lead for a small team of 5 student content creators and support content creation team members to contribute toward projects.
• Cultivate and maintain healthy team and communication dynamics
• Develop, draft, and revise materials that will resonate with first-generation, economically diverse, students of color exploring college opportunities.
• Coordinate and facilitate regular meetings for the team, and meet as needed with content creators, to maintain a rapid work plan and timeline of production and editing. • Maintain strong communication between co-principal investigator, Dr. OiYan Poon, and the content creation team.
• Performing other administrative duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications
• Enrollment in a graduate program leading to a master’s or doctoral degree at the University of Maryland, College Park
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated strengths in team building, facilitation, communication, and organization. • Self-motivated; able to work independently and collaboratively in teams. • Thorough attention to detail and dedication to producing quality work through revision and editing processes.
• Keep up-to-date with the latest social media trends.
Preferences:
• Experience with editorial processes related to written, photographic, or video content creation and production.
• Prior experience supervising a team of undergraduate students
