Functional Title: Student Content Creator

Position Summary: The College Admissions Futures (CAF) Co-Lab (https://www.cafcolab.org/)  is a multi-institutional partnership of higher education faculty, researchers, and scholar practitioners focused on exploring the impact of COVID-19 on college admissions. The CAF  Co-Lab is developing a new college search tool, called Winnow, intended to be used by high  school students and their families to make informed decisions about attending college. Winnow  will provide a library of resources that specifically support first-generation students, students  from low socioeconomic statuses, and racially minoritized students. 

We seek creative students to join a team of 5 undergraduate student content creators, who will  work collaboratively to produce short written, visual, and/or video content about college-going  experiences (e.g. getting academic support, engaging in co-curricular activities, living in a  residence hall, etc.). 

Hiring Range: This position offers a pay rate of $18 per hour for up to 15 hours per week. This  position requires a minimum of 10 hours per week.  

Responsibilities: Student content creators will report to a graduate assistant and the co-principal  investigator, Dr. OiYan Poon. This is a remote position. 

Duties will be inclusive, but not limited to: 

Develop, draft, and revise materials that will resonate with first-generation, economically  diverse, students of color exploring college opportunities. 

Meet regularly and as needed with the team of other student content creators and the  Graduate Assistant to collaboratively produce content for a new app called Winnow. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

Must be a currently enrolled undergraduate student at the University of Maryland,  College Park. 

Demonstrated strong writing and communication skills. 

Self-motivated; able to work independently and collaboratively in teams. Thorough attention to detail and dedication to producing quality work through revision  and editing processes.

Keep up-to-date with the latest social media trends. 

Ability to keep track timelines/self-manage 

Preferences: 

Demonstrated interest in issues of equity and college access regardless of area of study. Experience with editorial processes related to written, photographic, or video content  creation and production.
