Paid research opportunity during the school year and summer--which includes summer housing--for underrepresented undergrad populations (broadly-defined) in science. The UMD REACH program is geared toward students with an interest in hearing and communication-related research.
This program is intended to be for students who come from groups underrepresented in science, either by virtue of race or ethnicity, disability, or because they come from an economically disadvantaged background. If you have any questions or concerns about your eligibility, please contact UMD-REACH@umd.edu
Here is a brief blurb about the program from the website:
"We recognize barriers that may prevent individuals from participating in lab research. Many students face the burden of financial instability and are unable to devote the time to lab work because they are working many hours a week to support their education. To help students overcome these barriers, REACH provides a year-long paid training program to increase lab participation among underrepresented undergraduate students. Students will:
1) participate in labs 10 hrs/week during the academic year, and full-time (40 hrs/week) for 10 weeks during the summer
2) receive wages ($15/hour) and summer housing to allow them the time to commit to the program.
3) receive mentorship and professional development training to increase their future academic success and interest in research careers.
